AIOEC

AIOEC

An organization established under the auspices of the United Nations for countries with iron ore as a major natural resource. The AIOEC was established to promote the export and other trade of iron ore. It is governed by a Conference of Ministers and a Board, both of which are appointed by member countries. The Conference and the Board give instructions to a Secretariat, which conducts research and is responsible for the AIOEC's daily operations. It was established in 1975.
