MAP3K10
MAP3K10
An oncogene on chromosome 19q13.2 that encodes a MAPK kinase kinase belonging to a protein kinase signal transduction cascade. MAP3K10 can be phoshorylated, and is thus activated by JNK kinases. Itpreferentially activates MAPK8/JNK and the JNK signalling pathway, but also acts on MKK4/SEK1. It is reported to be involved in nerve growth factor (NGF)-induced neuronal apoptosis. It is expressed in brain and skeletal muscle.
Each mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway is a conserved cascade of three protein kinases: an activated MAPK kinase kinase (MAPKKK) phosphorylates and activates a specific MAPK kinase (MAPKK), which in turn activates a specific MAPK.
