Web: www.crstgfp.com Description:Byway crosses four Sioux IndianReservations, linking cultural and recreational sites throughout Northand South Dakota. Areas of interest along the South Dakota section ofthe byway include: the Akta Lakota Museum and Cultural Center in Chamberlain, devoted to preserving and promoting Sioux culture; the Lower Brule Indian Reservation and Crow Creek Indian Reservation, where visitors can learn about the history and modern customs of the Sioux; Lake Sharpe, which offers opportunities for water sports, hunting, and fishing; and Fort Pierre, where European traders and Native tribesonce traded goods.
Legth: 306 miles (South Dakota section); 357 miles (entire byway). Start/Endpoint: The South Dakota section of the byway runs from I-90 near Chamberlain andcontinue across the Missouri River to Oacoma. From there it picks up sections of SD 50, BIA 4, SD 47, BIA 5, BIA 10, SD 1806, US 83, US 14, SD 63, Highway 212, BIA 7, BIA 4, and SD 20, ending at the North Dakota border. Time to Allow: 3.5 hours (South Dakota section); 5.5 hours (entire byway) Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (2005).
