Louis XIII styleEarly seventeenth-century French furniture in showy mannerist fashion and made of ebony or walnut wood, decorated with lavish semi-precious stones and veneering. Flemish-imported geometric panels are its most distinctive feature. The cabinet, the most important piece, sometimes had a fall front added. Mainly oblong-shaped tables abounded and dining tables first had extensions. Upholstery included leather and became fixed for the first time. |
