Acetonaemia The presence of an excess of acetone in the blood, which occurs in ketoacidosis due to alcohol abuse, uncontrolled diabetes (ketoacidosis), starvation and prolonged fasting.ac·e·to·ne·mi·a (as'ĕ-tŏ-nē'mē-ă) The presence of acetone or acetone bodies in relatively large amounts in the blood. A commoner term is KETOSIS; the condition is the cause of diabetic coma.
