, 1580?–1661, Scottish general. He served in the Swedish army some 30 years, being knighted by Gustavus II and fighting in the Thirty Years War.

, at Philiphaugh in 1645. By 1650 he himself was supporting Charles II and as commander of the Scottish royalists was defeated by Oliver Cromwell at Dunbar (1650). After Charles's defeat at Worcester, Leslie was imprisoned (1651–60). He was created (1661) Baron Newark after the Restoration.
