Beilakani, Mujir Al-Din

 

Years of birth and death unknown. Twelfth-century Azerbaijani poet. Wrote in Persian.

Beilakani, was a disciple of Khagani and a court poet. His qasidas, ghazals, and rubaiyat are notable for the elegance of their style and the chiselled quality of their form. Romantic love is his main theme. In the qasidas, Beilakani celebrated his rulers and caustically derided untalented poets who imitated him.
