nephropexy [nef´ro-pek″se] surgical fixation of a floating or hypermobile kidney (nephroptosis). One important point is that after nephropexy the patient is positioned so that the chest is lower than the hips; this position relieves strain on the sutures and helps to maintain the kidney in a normal position.neph·ro·pex·y (nef'rō-pek'sē), Operative fixation of a floating or mobile kidney.
