Medieval Studies

(Russian, medievistika), the branch of historical science that studies the history of the Middle Ages in Western Europe and, in a wider but less commonly used sense, in other regions of the world as well. According to the periodization of history accepted by Marxist historiography, the Middle Ages in Europe ran from the fifth to the mid-17th centuries and coincided with the birth, growth, and decay of feudalism.
