Muhammad Naghi
Naghi, Muhammad
Born Jan. 27, 1888, in Alexandria; died Apr. 5, 1956, in Cairo. Egyptian realist painter and graphic artist.
Naghi studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1910 to 1914. He did a number of small works, including The Buffalo and the Fellah and The Flooding of the Nile (both in the Naghi Museum, Cairo). Naghi also painted the monumental panel entitled The Rebirth of Egypt for the conference room of the National Assembly in Alexandria.
