New Zealand Plateau
New Zealand Plateau
a submarine rise in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, bordering on New Zealand in the southeast. The plateau is about 2,000 km long and about 1,000 km wide, and the prevailing depth ranges from 200 to 1,000 m. The Bounty Trench, descending to 1,500–4,000 m, divides the plateau into the Chatham Uplift in the north and the Campbell Plateau in the south. The Chatham, Bounty, and Antipodes islands are on the New Zealand Plateau.
