Length: about 1000 km (600 miles) Molopo a river in Cape Province, in the Republic of South Africa; a right tributary of the Orange River. Parts of the river flow along the Botswana border. Length, approximately 1,000 km. The Molopo River rises on the middleveld and flows along the southern edge of the Kalahari. The constant flow of the sources is used for irrigation above the city of Mafeking; lower, the river has a seasonal flow to 23°E long. Farther down, the riverbed is dry. The main tributaries are the seasonal Nossob (right) and Kuruman (left) rivers. |
