Leone, Mark P. (Paul)

(1940– ) anthropologist, archaeologist; born in Waltham, Mass. A University of Arizona Ph.D., he joined the faculty of the University of Maryland (1976). He published a number of works on contemporary American religions including Roots of Modern Mormonism (1979). As an archaeologist he is best known for his detailed analyses of pre-Columbian residence patterns and what they reveal about social organization and interaction.
