beam splitting beam splitting[′bēm ‚splid·iŋ] (electronics) Process for increasing accuracy in locating targets by radar; by noting the azimuths at which one radar scan first discloses a target and at which radar data from it ceases, beam splitting calculates the mean azimuth for the target.
