Muezzi, Abu Abdallah Mohammad Ibn Abd Al-Malik

 

Born about 1048–49; died 1127. Persian and Tadzhik poet.

Muezzi was the son of the poet Burhani (about 1018–73). He was a court poet for the Seljuk sultans Malik Shah and Sanjar. He became famous for his brilliantly versified, panegyrical qasidas. Muezzi’s divan has been preserved, including 18,000 bayts (distichs).
