Lena Stage

Lena Stage

second lowest stage of the Cambrian system. It was identified by the Soviet geologists N. P. Suvorova and G. F. Gurari in 1954. The Lena stage is characterized by a complex of trilobites of the Protolenidae family, Archaeocyatha, chiolites, and brachiopods. It is found in Eastern Siberia, where it is chiefly represented by carbonaceous marine sediments (Lena limestone). Formations similar to the Lena stage are found abroad in Asia, Europe, Australia, North Africa, and North America.
