Kleinmann-Low nebula Kleinmann-Low nebula (klÿn -măn) (KL nebula) A diffuse source of infrared radiation within the Orion molecular cloud (OMC-1). At far-infrared wavelengths (100 μm) it is the brightest member of the infrared cluster in the OMC-1 complex, with a luminosity about 105 times that of the Sun. The temperature of the dust within the nebula is found to be about 70 K.Kleinmann-Low Nebula[′klīn‚män ′lō ′neb·yə·lə] (astronomy) A cool, extended source of infrared radiation in the Orion Nebula, probably a collapsing cloud of gas containing embedded protostars. Abbreviated KL Nebula. |
