Mudanya Armistice of 1922
signed on October 11 in Mudanya, Turkey, between representatives of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and representatives of Great Britain, France, and Italy; Greece joined the Mudanya Armistice on October 13. The armistice brought the national liberation war of the Turkish people against the imperialist intervention to a conclusion. It provided for the immediate evacuation of Greek troops from eastern Thrace to the Maritsa River. Allied troops were to remain temporarily in Istanbul and in the region of the Straits until the conclusion of a peace treaty. The Mudanya Armistice remained in effect until the conclusion of the Lausanne Peace Treaty of 1923.
