A gene on chromosome 14q32.3 that encodes a kinesin light chain, which binds to heavy chains to form kinesin, a tetrameric microtubule-associated motor protein involved in organelle transport: kinesin’s heavy chains provide the motor activity, while the light chains determine which cargo to move by binding to it.
