Leleges

Leleges

according to Greek legends, one of the ancient peoples living with the Pelasgians and Carians in the southern part of the Balkan Peninsula, the islands of the Aegean Sea, and Asia Minor. In the Iliad only the Leleges of Asia Minor are mentioned (as allies of the Trojans). According to Plutarch, the Leleges were subject to the Carians. Herodotus believed that the Leleges originally inhabited the Cyclades, and he identified them with the Carians. According to Strabo and Pausanias, the Leleges settled in various regions of central Greece and the Peloponnesus. According to other sources, they also lived in Thrace, Macedonia, and Illyria.
