Leishman, William Boog

(lēsh′măn) Scottish bacteriologist and pathologist, 1865–1926. He studied tropical diseases (e.g., kala-azar) and perfected a vaccine against typhoid fever.

Leishman stain

A stain containing alkaline methylene blue and eosin in methanol used in genetics to identify chromosomal bands and in blood smear analysis to identify white blood cells and parasitic infections.
