A neuronal antigen—recognised by a monoclonal antibody Alz-50—which is present in the developing foetus by 32 weeks of development, and disappears by age 2; it is present in brain tissue and CSF, is a major subunit of paired helical filaments of Alzheimer’s disease and is derived from LMW tau protein—possibly Tau 69—but is more phosphorylated.
