KISS1R

KISS1R

A gene on chromosome 19p13.3 that encodes a Gq/G11 protein-coupled receptor that signals by stimulating phospholipase C, resulting in Ca2+ mobilisation. KISS1R is highly expressed in the pancreas, placenta and brain, and slightly expressed in the small intestine, kidney, lung, liver and heart. It plays a key role in the neuroendocrine control of the gonadotrophin axis and may inhibit metastases.
