Kirovakan Barrow
Kirovakan Barrow
a Bronze Age burial mound located in the city of Kirovakan, Armenian SSR; investigated in 1948 by B. B. Piotrovskii.
The barrow contained the cremated remains of the chief of a rich stock-raising tribe of the first half of the second millennium B.C. The barrow’s gold and silver vessels attest to the high level of culture existing in Transcaucasia at that time and to its links with the countries of the western part of Southwest Asia. Many clay vessels and bronze weapons were also found. Burial grounds with similar finds are known in Trialeti in the Georgian SSR.
