Neo-Endemic

a plant or animal species or genus that is indigenous to a certain environment, but that has not yet successfully settled and is thus limited in range. Neo-endemics are usually closely related to the other species and genera of the surrounding flora and fauna. Often clusters of closely related neo-endemic organisms are formed. Examples of neo-endemics include many species of Middle Asian Artemesia or Astragalus and island forms of animals whose ancestors recently migrated from mainland environments (for example, the Galápagos finches of the family Geospizinae).
