Medial generally means 'nearer to the midline of the body;' thus, the medial antebrachial cutaneous nerve lies nearer to the midline than the lateral antebrachial cutaneous nerve. Median generally means 'between two other structures'; thus, the median nerve lies between the radial nerve and the ulnar nerve in the forearm. Mesial, used almost exclusively in dentistry, means 'nearer to the center line of the dental arch'.Relating to the middle or center; nearer to the median or midsagittal plane.
