Moguls


Moguls

 

(1) A small ethnic group of Mongol origin in Afghanistan. Population, about 2,000 (1970, estimate). Some speak an archaic dialect of Mongolian, and the rest speak Dari. The Moguls are Sunni Muslims. Their occupation is agriculture.

(2) In medieval India, the name Mogul (also Mughal or Mughul) was applied to the representatives of the Turkic and Mongol peoples who came with the armies of the conquerors from the Mogul Empire.
