Mogolistan

Mogolistan

(also Mogholistan), a feudal state founded in the 1340’s by Toglug-Timur, a descendant of Genghis Khan, after the disintegration of the Jagatai Khanate. Mogolistan took in the eastern part of the Jagatai Khanate, which included Eastern Turkestan, Semirech’e, and part of Southern Siberia. Mavera-un-nahr (Transoxiana) was also annexed to Mogolistan in 1360–61 but was not retained after the death of Toglug-Timur in 1363. His successors controlled only Eastern Turkestan, which they retained until the 1570’s. In literature, the term “Mogolistan” is sometimes synonymous with Eastern Turkestan.
