\\begin

\\begin

(text, chat)The LaTeX command used with \\end to delimit anenvironment within which the text is formatted in a certainway. E.g. \\begintable...\\endtable.

Used humorously in writing to indicate a context or to remarkon the surrounded text. For example:

\\beginflamePredicate logic is the only good programminglanguage. Anyone who would use anything elseis an idiot. Also, all computers should betredecimal instead of binary.\\endflame

Scribe users at CMU and elsewhere used to use @Begin/@Endin an identical way (LaTeX was built to resemble Scribe). OnUsenet, this construct would more frequently be rendered as"" and "" (a la HTML), or "#ifdefFLAME" and "#endif FLAME" (a la C preprocessor).
