Neman Lowland
Neman Lowland
a lowland located in the basin of the upper course and part of the middle course of the Neman (Nemunas) River, primarily within Grodno Oblast, Byelorussian SSR. It is composed of aqueoglacial and fluvial deposits. Its elevation varies from 90 to 150 m. The soils are soddy and slightly podzolized, combined with peat-bog and floodplain-meadow soils. Most of the lowland is under cultivation; part is marsh-ridden. The Nalibokskaia Virgin Forest is located in the northeastern part of the Neman Lowland.
