Lee, Wanchul

(1926–2008)A designer of embassies and public buildings, Lee completed more than 80 projects for the U.S. State Department across the world, renovating embassies and building new ones. Sometimes they were in politically unstable environments, such as U.S. embassies in Beirut, Lebanon and Tel Aviv, Isreal during times of unrest, and a new embassy in Tanzania, Africa following the destruction of the previous building by terrorists in 1998.
