Kinabalu (also Kinibalu), a mountain massif on the northern part of the island of Kalimantan (Borneo), in Malaysia. It rises to an altitude of 4,101 m (the highest point in the Malay Archipelago) and is composed primarily of granite and granodiorite. Tropical and mountain forests grow at altitudes of up to 3,500 m, and above that there are thickets of shrubs and meadows. |
