(The Tocsin), a revolutionary journal published in Geneva from 1875 to 1879 and in 1881 by a group of Blanquist Russian and Polish émigrés; from 1878 the organ of the Society for the Liberation of the People. In 1880 an unsuccessful attempt was made to transfer the publication of Nabat to Russia. Twenty issues of the journal appeared; circulation totaled 1,500 copies. The editors were P. N. Tkachev, K. M. Turskii, and P. Gretsko (P. V. Grigor’ev). Nabat called for the immediate abolition of tsarism. Violently polemicizing with the followers of Bakunin and Lavrov, the journal propagandized a plan for seizing power through a conspiracy.
