Noteć (nô`tĕch), river, c.270 mi (430 km) long, NW Poland. It rises S of Inowrocław and flows generally W into the Warta River near Gorzów Wielkopolski. The Noteć is connected by the Bydgoszcz Canal with the Vistula River and is navigable for almost its entire length.Noteć a river in western Poland, a right tributary of the Warta. The Noteć is 361 km long and drains an area of 17,200 sq km. In its upper reaches it flows through Lake Gopło, and throughout much of its lower course it flows through an ancient valley eroded by glacial water. The average flow at the mouth is 72 cu m per sec. The Noteć is navigable for 274 km and has numerous sluices. The Bydgoszcz Canal links the Noteć with the Vistula River. |
