Kilchevanie
Kil’chevanie
a pre-planting preparation of cuttings and seedlings of grape vines, which facilitates formation of the root systems. The lower parts of the cuttings are placed in conditions of elevated temperature, while the upper parts are placed in conditions of lowered temperature. As a result, a callus forms (vulnerary tissue that appears at the wound sites of the cuttings), the rudiments of roots appear on the lower part of the cutting, and budding is delayed. Kil’chevanie is employed in hotbeds or trenches.
