Kielce-Sandomierz Uplands
(Wyżyna Kielecko-Sandomierska), uplands in southeastern Poland, between the Vistula and Pilica rivers, consisting of several parallel ridges that attain an elevation of 611 m (tysa Góra) in the Góry Świętokrzyskie. The ridges extend from northwest to southeast for 80 km and are about 40 km wide. The uplands are composed of sandstones, limestones, and schists, generally covered with loose Neocene and glacial deposits. They are dissected by deep ravines and covered by broad-leaved and mixed forests. It is a farming and fruit-growing area. Kielce lies within the region, and Sandomierz is on its eastern edge.
