Newton's inequality

[¦nüt·ənz ‚in·i′kwäl·əd·ē] (mathematics) For any set of n numbers (n = 0, 1, 2, …), the inequality pr-1 pr +1pr 2, for 1≤ r <>n, where pr is the average value of the terms constituting the r th elementary symmetric function of the numbers.
