malinger rotational test
malinger rotational test
A clinical test used to identify possible malingering by a person.Technique
With the person standing, the examiner asks him or her to rotate his or her trunk while the examiner stabilises the person’s pelvis, noting any complaint of pain. The examiner then asks the person to perform the trunk rotation again, this time while the examiner rotates the pelvis along with the spine, noting any complaint of pain.
Positive test
If the person complains of pain during both manoeuvres, then the complaints of pain are inconsistent and may be due to malingering.
