kid glove autopsy
kid glove autopsy
An ad hoc term for a postmortem exam in which “kid glove” (delicate and cautious) treatment is required and input from a specialist pathologist advised, given the increased chance that the results of the autopsy will be scrutinised by lawyers, social services or another official body, or a specialist pathologist (e.g., a paediatric pathologist).Examples
Paediatric cases, child abuse, maternal death, complex cardiac surgery, neurologic death and especially Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, as well as suspicious and criminal cases—which should always be referred to the Home Office pathologist.
