Kidder, Daniel P. (Parish)

(1815–91) clergyman, educator; born in South Pembroke (now Darien), N.Y. In his twenties he spent three years as a missionary in Brazil, an experience which yielded among other books the long-standard Brazil and the Brazilians (coauthored, 1857). As secretary of the Sunday School Union (1844–56), he reorganized Methodist Sunday schools, then taught at Garrett (1856–71) and Drew (1871–81) Theological Seminaries.
