Established: 1978. Description:Dedicated to the preservation of the Pony Express National Historic Trail (see separate entry in national trails section) and to recognizing the history of the Pony Express (1860-1861) as a significant episode in the development of the American West. A reenactment of the 1,966-mile trip is held annually in June. Maintains eight state divisions (California, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, Utah, and Wyoming). Members: 800. Dues: $10/year (national) plus state dues.
