nonskid brakes nonskid brakesRefers to the antiskid braking system. This is a feature found in high-performance aircraft braking systems, in which aircraft brakes do not lock up, thus tires are not allowed to skid. Wheels equipped with the system have wheel rotational speed sensors installed in the hub. If the rate of deceleration of the wheel is such that a skid is likely to develop, a nonskid valve automatically releases brake pressure to the brakes, until the wheel begins to speed up. The valve then automatically applies pressure to the brakes. See maxaret unit. |
