Aidyn

(pseudonym of Manzura Sabirova). Born 1906, in Tashkent; died May 30, 1953. Soviet Uzbek writer. Graduated from the University of Samarkand in 1931.

Aidyn’s works were first published in the 1920’s. She wrote the play Road to the New (1925) about the emancipation of women, the poem Dawn Songs (1931), and the collection Poems (1937). She was the author of short stories and sketches based on the bygone way of life of Uzbek women, about the labor and the patriotism of the Soviet people—for example, The Shoemaker Came (1943), Gulsanam (1943), Girls (1943), Shirin Arrived (1944), and Courage-Eternity (1947).
