Khu·jand or Khu·dzhand K0051750 (ko͞o-jänd′) A city of northwest Tajikistan on the Syr Darya River south of Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Located on an ancient caravan route, it is one of the oldest towns of Central Asia and marked the farthest eastward expansion of Alexander the Great. Russia annexed the city in 1866.
