Nival Climate

a climate in which more solid precipitation falls than melts and evaporates; this leads to the formation of glaciers (the climate of Antarctica, Greenland, and the mountainous glacial regions in other latitudes) and to the preservation of névés. The term “nival” was proposed by the German geographer A. Penck when he was developing a geomorphological classification of climates.
