Kholzun
Kholzun
a mountain range in the Altai. The range is about 100 km long and has elevations to 2,599 m (at Mt. Lineiskii Belok). It extends in a more or less latitudinal direction, forming a divide for the Bukhtarma and Koksa rivers, which are right tributaries of the Katun’. The range is composed of metamorphic rock intruded by granites. The slopes are covered by cedar-larch mountain taiga with subalpine meadows to elevations of 2,000–2,100 m; alpine tundra is found at higher elevations.
