Kholov, Makhmadula

Born Jan. 2, 1920, in the kishlak (hamlet) of Boloshar, in what is now Garm Raion, Tadzhik SSR. Soviet state and party figure. Member of the CPSU since 1947.

The son of a peasant, Kholov graduated from the Party School of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Turkestan in 1954 and from the Higher Party School of the Central Committee of the CPSU in 1969. He served in the Soviet Army from 1940 to 1942 and again from 1944 to 1947, and he fought in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–45. From 1947 to 1951 he was engaged in Komsomol work; in 1954 he took up party and soviet work.

In 1963, Kholov became chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Tadzhik SSR, and in 1964 he became deputy chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. In 1966 he was made a member of the Central Auditing Commission of the CPSU. Kholov was elected a candidate member of the Central Committee of the CPSU in 1971. He was a deputy to the sixth through tenth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

Kholov has been awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, two other orders, and various medals.
