Khimki Reservoir

 

a reservoir in Moscow and other parts of Moscow Oblast on the Khimki River (a tributary of the Moscow River). The reservoir was formed in 1937 by the Khimki (Tushino) Hydroengineering Complex. It is one of the reservoir links in the watershed sector of the Moscow Canal. The reservoir has an area of 4 sq km, a volume of 29 million cu m, a length of 9 km, a maximum width of 800 m, and an average depth of 7 m. The North River Port, the Khimki river terminal, and water sports complexes are located on the reservoir.
