Khauz-Khan Reservoir

 

an irrigation reservoir built in 1962–66 in the Turkmen SSR on the bank of the Karakum Canal, southwest of the city of Mary. Filled by the waters of the canal, the Khauz-Khan Reservoir has an area of 136 sq km and a capacity of 0.46 cu km when full. It is 22 km long, with a maximum width of 18 km, an average depth of 3.4 m, and a maximum depth of 10 m. The water level of the reservoir varies within a range of 6 m and provides seasonal regulation of water flow.
