Khasan Appaev

Appaev, Khasan Alievich

 

Born 1904, in the village of Kart-Dzhurt, now Karachaevsk Raion, Karachaevo-Cherkess Autonomous Oblast; died 1938. Karachai Soviet writer. Member of the CPSU from 1929. First published in 1928. Secretary of the Karachaevsk oblast committee of the CPSU from 1936.

Appaev was the author of the novel The Black Trunk (books 1–2, 1935–36), in which the social contradictions of pre-Revolutionary society were exposed and the daily life of the Karachai was portrayed.
